Port Dickson Trip 24-26 May 2013

This trip was planned 2 months ago in March where there's a promotion on their selected rooms. It was really cheap at $770nett ringgit per night for the Grand pool villa. The online best price would cost around $900+ ringgit per night. It's a good steal so I quickly booked 2 night stay during the Vesak Day long weekend. It's also to celebrate EC's advance birthday which falls on a weekday, 30th May Thursday.

My colleague and his family also went with us on the same days but we didn't really get together till the last day morning at the hotel baby pool. The first 2 days they had their own activities and we had ours as the timing was hard to meet. They booked a spa at Avispa@ avillion on the 2nd day. I wanted to try another round with Hui but mum will not be able to handle 3 kids herself hence we dropped the idea.

This was our 2nd trip to port dickson. The first was during CNY this year in Feb. Compared to the previous trip, this one was more fruitful as we did more exploration around the area - Shopping malls, supermarkets and places for dinner. The traffic to Port Dickson was also very smooth with no accidents along the way. We stopped over at Yong Peng for lunch and had very nice fishball noodles. The soup was quite fishy though. We had Zi Zhar food for dinner for both nights. Both seafood restuarants, Chardin seaview and Weng Yin, were both good. Chardin is nearer to our resort and more expensive. Weng yin is further but cheaper. If ask me for rating in terms of overall, Chardin wins my vote. We also had a celebration for EC in our room on the 2nd night with birthday cake and presents bought by mum.
Guess the happiest ones for this trip are the birthday girls, Elsie & Chloe!

Day 1 - 24th May:
  • Set off at 7+am and reach Clementi around 7.45am. Reached Tuas link by 8+am. Stuck at the M'sia custom for almost 45mins and we were good to go all the way to Yong Peng.
  • Lunch at Yong Peng, a fishball noodle restuarant around 11+am.
  • Check-in hotel around 3pm.
  • Everyone can't wait to get down the private pool in the room especially the girls. So we all changed and started our swim, including my mum (just playing with water)!
  • Went for dinner around 6+pm at Chardin seaview
  • Went back hotel rest and relax by 9+pm.

Watching Madagascar in car to keep the kids quiet throughout the journey.
But it didn't last for long..they started to complain of the long journey after awhile.
Lunch at Yong Peng area. Noodle is nice. Fishball is nice. Soup too fishy.

    Our room - 3219

The private infinity pool in our room

    First night dinner place.

Having dinner with a sunset view. Pretty!
Day 2 - 25th May:
  • Chloe was the 1st to wake up at around 6.45am, followed by me, Andre, mum and Elsie..so guess who's the last?
  • Had breakfast buffet at the hotel at level #9 at around 8.30am. Spectacular seaview while we had our breakfast.
  • The girls wanted to play at the hotel baby pool as there's a mini slide playground in the center of the pool. So off we went leaving mum in the room to R&R. During the previous trip, EC did not dare to play the slides. This time, they dare to try it and they went crazy over it. Must be all the swimming lessons for past 6 mths, they are now more daring when in the pool.
  • Went back to room to bathe after about 1.5hrs at the pool.
  • Ordered room service for lunch to utilise the $120 dining credits given by the hotel for stay between April to May. How lucky we were to travel at this period isn't it?
  • Finished lunch and out we went to explore Port Dickson.
  • Visited some shopping malls and supermarkets - Oceanic mall, The Store supermarket (like our previous Shop N Save), Billion supermarket (another supermarket like giant that sells kids clothing/toys, clothings, electrical appliances etc). Mum bought some toys for ECA at Billion.
  • Drove to Weng Yin seafood restuarant for dinner. Elsie did not nap in the car the whole day until we were on the way to Weng Yin. Hence when we were all having dinner, she slept all the way till we were back to the hotel (refused to wake up even when I tried). Reached room around 9pm.
  • Went out with mum to source for birthday cake while Hui stayed in room with the kids. The cake at Grand Lexis restuarant was sold out but luckily I managed to get one "next door" - Lexis hotel which was just beside Grand Lexis.
  • Had a small advance birthday celebration with EC in the room on the last night. Andre was already fast asleep by then so no photos taken with him. :(
  • Since it's the last night, while all were asleep, Hui and I had a dipped in the private pool in our room. First time swimming at 11+pm and watching movie from Ipad. Shiok! It would be more perfect with a glass of wine to warm the chill in the pool.
  • Buffet breakfast at the hotel #9. Awesome view!

Chloe took this picture for me.
Abit slanted but still a good job from a 5 years old kid!

    2nd night dinner place.

Little presents for the kids, paid by grandmother.

Their 1st birthday cake in Chloe's favourite PINK!
Day 3 - 26th May:
  • All woke up slightly later than the 2nd day. Went over to colleague Jason's grand skypool villa to kaypoh around. That room was big with 1 bedroom that contains 1 king size bed and 2 king size beds are outside that bedroom. 3 king size beds in total while ours only had 2. All Grand Lexis rooms come with a private pool which was the plus point of this hotel. Jason's room private pool is fully sheltered so they can still swim even if it rains. Ours being at the 2nd floor was a open infinity pool.
  • All of us including Jason's family went for breakfast together at level #9 again.
  • After breakfast, met up with Jason and his son Javier at the baby pool on the last day at Port dickson. ECA had a fun time with Javier at the pool and slides.
  • Went back to room at around 10.45am to bathe and packed to get ready for check-out.
  • After check-out, we had lunch at Old Town nearby the hotel.
  • Zoom off straight, heading back to Singapore with a stop over for toilet break at Machap.
Playdates with Javier at the kids pool

See the different expression of Andre? Such a drama boy!

Till the next road trip, maybe next year...
