Joke of the night on 25/07/11

Lights were off at 11pm and we were ready in bed to make EC to sleep. 4 of us had some conversation in the dark as the girls were talking non-stop and refused to keep quiet.

Some cute & funny conversations we had:

Elsie: A is for apple. Apple makes the sound 'Aaa' and 'ple ple ple'.
Chloe: Papa, what sound does Elsie make?
Papa: Elsie makes the sound "I want mummy, I want mummy!" So what sound does Chloe make?
Chloe: I want papa, I want papa!

* Hui & I burst out laughing *

Elsie: Mummy, my face itchy!
Mummy: Dun scratch huh, papa say itchy must use beat, wait scratch got scar.
Elsie: Papa, can I beat my face?
Papa: Cannot! I beat for you!
Elsie: Dun want! I beat myself. Thank you!!

* It was the last 2 words that made us LOL. Didnt expect she will add in 'Thank you' and said in such a polite tone. Funny! *

And the following conversation took place few nights ago...

Mummy to Papa: Oh, I forgot to eat my iron pills again!
Elsie: Mummy, you say iron huh?
Mummy: Yes, iron.
Elsie: Iron cannot eat wan! Iron is auntie use to iron the clothes!

* Speechless *

Birdnest! Cordyceps!

Had been having my weekly dosage of birdnest since I'm about 5months preggy. As there was promotion on birdnest and mum knows that supervisor quite well, Hui got soft and bought almost $500 supplies of birdnest that could last me right up to the day I give birth (with intake per week) after syko by the supervisor. It's not the best grade, it's not the lousiest grade, at least it's under the average grade.

So every sunday when I went back mum's place at clementi, there would be a bowl of birdnest waiting for me to enjoy at night after my dinner. Sometimes I do share with Hui...He only can eat 1/4, the rest are mine!
Sometimes I do share with Elsie, but only let her take a few mouths coz heard young kids cant take too much.
Sometimes I do want to share with Chloe but when she saw the birdnest, she says "Eeeeee" and ran off! This girl don't know how to appreciate Ho Liao!

My 爱心 birdnest - brewed by mum, paid by hubby!

I had also had my 2 dosage of soup that consist Cordyceps, chicken, red dates and other ingredients (which I don't know call what!). This is to be taken once a month after week 32 to strengthen the baby's lungs and immune. But because cordysep is very heaty, I only took it once a month.

I'm so blessed, isnt it? Or is it because this time round it's a boy so they are all willing to spent and feed me with all the very nourishable food?? Biased?? Hmmm....

Less than a month to POP!

Water Retention!

Water retention starts kicking in few days ago on my leg and feet. Today I could feel the pain when walking and driving. Compared to first pregnancy where I had swollen feet starting week 20++, this time it's considered late as I'm into week 34.

All I can do now is drink more water, walk lesser and try to lift my leg on a pillow while sleeping. My concern now is sending EC to MIL's place every morning and drive myself back home. If Hui send them over, he will be super late for work and it's expensive for him to park the car in his office carpark. So hope I can still drive for short distance until I deliver.

Hopefully the water retention will subside soon and not come back till my delivery. Few more weeks left to POP! Looking forward to my long maternity leave & very curious to see who this boy will look like!

My "Elephant" feet! :(

I Can Read

After stopping wkend class with Julia Gabriel (parents accompied class) in Dec 2010, I had been wanting to start them with another school that required NO-Parents accompanied. I hope to get them prepare for Nursery next year where they will enter the classroom themselves without the parents around since they are not attending any 2 or 3 hours playgroup during the wkdays.

E&C had started their first lesson with I Can Read on 2nd July. Before attending the class and get enrol, they had to go for a diagnostic assessment to see if they are ready for this school and to determine where their standard are. I booked an appointment with them on 25th June for the assessment with Hougang Green branch.

The tester/teacher was an angmor and it was a very simple test showing them a piece of paper with 29 pictures on it. The teacher will go through every single of them and E&C had to tell her the name for that picture (eg, boy, girl, apple, tiger etc). Chloe was tested in a room with Hui around while I was playing with Elsie in another room. After Chloe was done, it's Elsie's turn.

Chloe did better with a score of 19/29 while Elsie was 17/29. The teacher tried to test them on phonics sound but they didnt do well at all since they are not exposed to phonics yet! I told the teacher they do not know any phonics, so the teacher just strike off that page and put N/A!

Anyway, after the assessment, the teacher said they can straight go to the TCS (THINKING AND CREATIVE SKILLS) class and skip the first level (LITTLE LEARNERS). The assessment is not really about how well they do (if they can answer all questions, what for I still send them to school!) but whether they can speak and pay attention to what the teacher says. Luckily E&C did follow all instructions by the teacher and I felt they did pretty well. At least not running here and there while the teacher was asking them questions. We can really see how the girls had grown compared to the classes attended in Zoophonics and Julia Gabriel!

Since Hui was not in Singapore, his elder sis/BIL were very kind to send us to school and later back to Clementi (my mum's place). This big tummy mummy had problem driving long distance now so I'm glad they offered this help. If not I would have taken a cab.

First day of the class was great and better than I expected. I thought they would cry and insisted that I go into the classroom with them. Instead, they took off their shoes and walked into the classroom themselves!

After they went into the classroom, I quickly left the place before they changed their mind and wanted to drag me in. Went lunch with SIL/BIL, chit-chatted and 1.5hours just zoomed passed.

No crying or misbehaved for the whole 1.5 hours class according to the teacher. Their teacher is another angmor which I like about this branch (not sure if other branch teachers also angmor?) because it means no singlish (all the lah, leh, lors!) will be heard and I would think they can learn proper english through a foreign teacher compared to the locals.
* The teacher who teaches my girls class at Zoophonics doesn't leave me a good impression due to her spoken English. *

Their class are all the same age group (the 2008s) as they try to group the same age students together in 1 time slot. So cute to see all the little ones of their same age walking out of the classroom happily and waving goodbye to each other and the teacher when I went to pick them up after their lesson.

I think they enjoyed the lesson with this school very much as they kept talking about it after school. Asked them if they wanted to go to this school again, they shouted "YES!". Hopefully by end of this Term, their phonics skills will improve and able to pronounce words better. Let's see...

Their school polo-shirt. Looks so cute on them!
The back comes with a very nice print too!
