Few weeks ago, I put the above subject as my msn nick and many fellow MSNers provided some respond.
The following were the top 3 msgs selected:
MSNer #1: "If is fair, then life will not be fun anymore loh"
Shara: Life is so unfair!: "It doesnt have to be unfair in order to make life fun right?"
MSNer #2: "Why life is so unfair?"
Shara: Life is so unfair!: "Dun you think so?"
(Own thoughts, this is indeed a stupid question to ask)
MSNer #3: "I totally agree with you!"
Shara: Life is so unfair!: "Finally I have 1 supporter!"
Most of the people who have my msn account came asking what makes me have such a thought. All I could reply was "Just something happen at work."
Let me tell everyone a story titled "Cham Vs Sway"starring Ah Neh, Bee Hoon, Ah Cham & Ah Sway.
"Ah Neh runs a business in selling Roti Prata at San Jose, CA. His business was getting so well that he decided to open a few more branch in Asia Pacific. Singapore was one of the location he was aiming and therefore he employed Bee Hoon to help him find the best candidate to mend the store. There were in total 5 roles available for the Singapore Roti Prata store and the roles were spread out across 4 quarters in the year. Ah Cham and Ah Sway applied for the Roti Prata consultant role which was needed in the first quarter and both were shortlisted for the interview.
Ah Neh decided that he should come down to Singapore personally to interview these candidates and he made a trip down for 3 days together with his godson, Ah Mor. Just one day before the interview, Ah Sway fell sick and couldnt make it. Bee Hoon then postpone Ah Sway's interview to the following day and let Ah Cham went for the interview one day before Ah Sway. Bee Hoon told Ah Cham that only one of them would get the role and who get the role depends on how well they performed during the interview. All along Ah Cham felt his chance was lower than Ah Sway because Ah Sway had previous experience in working with Ah Neh's team in San Jose.
The day of interview came and Ah Cham went into the interview room at 1.00pm sharp! Ah Neh, Ah Mor, Bee Hoon were in the room interviewing Ah Cham. Ah Cham performed well and all went smoothly. Ah Neh mentioned that the right person they were looking for is not the experience but how enthusiatic is this person towards in making prata and the right attitude towards this role. Just 5 minutes before the interview end, Bee Hoon's assistant, Mee Pok came into the room as well. A total of 4 interviewer for the subsequent interviewing session. There were about 10 candidates applying for the 5 different roles in Ah Neh's organisation. Ah Cham being the more heng one, escaped the last interviewer questions because Mee Pok came late.
After the interview, Bee Hoon message Ah Cham telling him he had performed well and Ah Neh and Ah Mor had good impression of him. Ah Cham was delighted but didn't pin much hope yet because he still need to see how Ah Sway fare during the interview.
The next day, Ah Sway came much earlier for the interview. When he walked pass Bee Hoon's office, Bee Hoon asked him to go in for a chat. It was 1 hour before the interview starts. After the chat, it greatly affects Ah Sway's mood for the interview. Being a professional, Ah Sway still went for the interview with a heavy heart.
On the same day when Ah Cham met Ah Sway, both had a chat. Ah Sway was looking very moody with little words.
Ah Cham: Are you okie? How's did your interview went?
Ah Sway: Don't talk about it liao. Had a talk with Bee Hoon. I'm just a dummy today. You will know it soon.
Ah Cham: Ok, then don't talk, let's change topic.
Ah Cham smell something fishy and wonder what did Bee Hoon told Ah Sway. But Ah Cham somehow felt he seems to have a higher chance to go to that Roti Prata consultant role than Ah Sway based on Ah Sway conversation and mood that day.
The next day after Ah Sway interview, Bee Hoon met up with Ah Cham in her office.
Bee Hoon: You did very well that day. Ah Neh and Ah Mor liked you. I think you stands a high chance.
Ah Cham: Really? Thanks.
Bee Hoon: But Ah Sway will be put up for the Roti Prata consultant role. Ah Neh will put you in one of the other 5 role. Whether Ah Sway can go RP consultant role will depends on Ah Neh after he gathers feedback from his team when he goes back San Jose.
(Thunders roar, lightings strike..)
Ah Cham: So does it mean if Ah Sway also got selected, he had a higher chance to go RP than me??
Bee Hoon: Yes. Because he had experience with the team under Ah Neh.
(Ah Cham was fumming with anger)
Bee Hoon: Does it matter if you get other role and not the RP?
Ah Cham: YES! I will feel disappointed!
(Bee Hoon started her management skills telling Ah Cham all the ah ma's story)
Ah Cham walked out of Bee Hoon's office feeling real disappointed. He should be happy because he stands a high chance in going into Ah Neh's organisation. But the role Bee Hoon said was not what Ah Cham wanted. Where work and passion concerned, it's really not 'bo her he ma hou' (No fish, prawn also can). It's 'bo her, he also mai liao!'(No fish, prawn also don't want)!
On the same day, Ah Cham met up with Ah Sway again. This time, Ah Sway revealed what Bee Hoon told him on the day before his interview. Ah Cham also told Ah Sway what Bee Hoon told him just now. Ah Cham put the 2 piece of puzzle together and draw up a conclusion.
During the interview, Ah Neh told Ah Cham that the key element was the enthusiam and right attitude. But now Bee Hoon told Ah Cham that Ah Sway got the role because he got experience in dealing with Ah Neh's team? Right from the start everyone know about Ah Sway background. So Ah Cham had already lost the battle without even the need to go for interview IF dealing with the Ah Neh's team is the key element now to get into the RP role? If it was already decided Ah Sway will get the role, why did he gave such a reaction to Ah Cham on the day of his interview? Is Ah Sway still a dummy candidate if he already stands such a high chance in the first place? So what exactly did Bee Hoon told Ah Sway just 1 hour before his interview? "
Stay tune for the sequel....
