Before the day, we planned:
- Reach at 8+am
- Cycle and play for 2 hours
- Leave the place by 10+am for breakfast (at Changi village) before the sun gets hotter
- Reach home by lunch hour to cook macaroni soup as lunch for the kids
- Get them bathe, have lunch and head to bed for nap
But end up (as expected), we all overslept! We reached the place around 9.30am and luckily the sun was still tolerable. When we reached, Hui realise he forgotten to bring out that bag of helmets/guards he had prepared for the girls! As we were too lazy to drive back to take, we just had to let the girls fall without all the safety measures. :(
The girls were not in good form for the start. Falling down a few times made them so scared that they kept complaining and wanted to stop cycling. Instead they kept asking us to bring them over to the playground. Hui and I were kind of disappointed as we thought we found a good place for them to cycle but yet they wanted to give up just after few tries. They did much better at the basketball court downstairs our block.
After some playing at the playground, we wanted them to give a try again to cycle. The only way to get their butt out of the playground was ICE-CREAM! We promised to treat them to some ice-cream if they could cycle well.
Kids are kids. For the sake of something they hardly get to eat, they obliged. This time round, they cycled very well. Even though they fell down quite a number of times, they picked themselves up and try again. Finally I felt the trip was not wasted.
By 11+am it was damn hot and all were complaining. Left the place around 12pm and head to compass point Sakae Sushi for brunch. We rushed off straight after our meal back home before the kids fell asleep in car. Reason being we wanted them to reach home, bathe and then head to bed to have a good rest. Sleeping in car will end up having a very short nap as the distance from compass point to our home is short, and when they reach home, they will not be able to sleep again.
Everyone had a good nap except for Hui as MIL came over so he had to entertain her. He cooked dinner for all and the rest of the day was spent at home.
I think we would do this activity again on another Saturday. And I would make sure to bring out EC's helmet/guards/gloves!
Squeezing in the foldie and 2 kids bicycle. Probably have space for another Strider.
Will need a bicycle car rack in order to bring Hui's fixie out too.
Reached the place. Nice view!
Bicycles parked as EC only wanna play the playground.
Enjoying the sand, the slides, the see-saw and the swing!
Andre doesn't really like the playground area so I brought him to see turtles and fishes.
He was more interested in looking at the pond and shouting "neh, turtle...fish"
Finally the 2nd trial of cycling, EC enjoyed it more.
Had a competition to see who reached the finishing line (bottle) first.
Daddy had to run behind to "protect" them incase they gonna fall badly.
* I think Chloe won in the 1st round and Elsie won in the 2nd round *
Poor Andre was confined in the stroller.
So hot he could hardly open his eyes although the stroller was placed in a sheltered spot.
No choice because if he run around, EC might cycle and bump into him!
Our stunt man for that day!
Cycling and falling freely!
Hui's analogy: You don't fall, you don't learn!
Last 2 pics before we leave the hot place!
